Word: Hurt.

Posted in word by krisyee on March 2, 2010

It’s 2am, I hear the rain, and I SHOULD be studying. But no, instead I was writing some emails and reading things online. Ever since Eugene messaged me the link to tinybuddha.com, I’ve been checking it every day!

We’ve all been hurt in one way or another. And getting hurt is so much easier than getting over the fact that we’ve been hurt. Usually my first answer to get over it is simple. TIME. Everything takes time. But in order to get the ball rolling, there are things you need to do so you can find happiness again.

Tiny Buddha had a post that I thought would be good to share…

10 Happiness Tips for People Who Have Been Hurt

“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” ~Unknown

1. Define your pain.

2. Express that pain.

3. Try to stay in the present.

4. Stop telling the story.

5. Forgive yourself.

6. Stop playing the blame/victim game.

7. Don’t let the pain become your identity.

8. Reconnect with you were before the pain.

9. Focus on things that bring you joy in the moment.

10. Share that joy with other people.

I believe that majority of these are dead on. In my opinion, tips 5-7 are pretty important in order to become happy again.

Make sure to read the whole post and descriptions of each tip,  HERE at tinybuddha.com.
