Day 2: Business.

Posted in fashion, project ootd, shoes by krisyee on October 2, 2012

This is me “dressing up” for work. I recently invested in some non-iron work shirts so that I don’t have to iron them. I usually end up buying cheap dress shirts from H&M, but what’s the point if I’m too lazy to iron them? And since I stand all day, I don’t usually wear heels either, but these are the short 1″ heels. I really liked the plain and simple embellishment on the pockets and belt loop on my pants.

Day 1: I’m on a Boat.

Okay, so here we go with day 1. It was a good 80 something degrees out in the city today. I think this was my first time wearing shorts in the bay area this year. Anyways, Reg and I headed to Dolores Park and The Ferry building to enjoy the beautiful weather. I guess you can say I went for the preppy summery look. Especially with the boat shoes.

PS- One thing you’re going to notice about my outfit details…I buy cheap clothes. And sometimes cheap shoes. And I most likely will not post anything about accessories or purses. Mainly because I’m probably going to keep using the same ones.

Project OOTD

Posted in fashion, project ootd, shoes by krisyee on October 1, 2012

Sometimes I think I should have gone to a school like FIDM, got a degree in something that has to do with fashion and work in the fashion industry. Instead, I work in the tech industry, specifically wireless technology, and am getting my bachelors in business administration with a concentration in marketing. I have close friends and family who think I’m into fashion and should possibly go into styling…or something in fashion. Then I have friends that are super into fashion and I am in no way as fashionable as they are. They’re constantly creating new outfits everyday while I’m over here in the same t-shirt and jeans that I wore to class two days ago.

I’ve done a few outfit of the day (OOTD) posts but I don’t know how girls with fashion blogs do it. I have a Lookbook.nu account but hardly have any photos on there. First of all, I never know how to pose. I usually end up doing some type of moded ass face with my mouth open mid sentence. Secondly, pictures always look better when someone else is taking it for you. So who the hell would help me take pictures of myself?! They probably think I’m being conceited or something. Anyways, and the third thing is, I don’t always have the time to create an outfit. Sometimes I’m just lazy and need to put on some jeans and a t-shirt to go to the grocery store.

Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion. I love clothes and I love shoes. Honestly, what girl doesn’t? But sometimes I just don’t have the time to think of what I should wear. But when I do, I like to dress up and like to feel good in what I’m wearing. So I wanted to see if I could do an OOTD post everyday for ONE MONTH straight. Whether I’m in my work clothes, in t-shirt and jeans, or dressed up I will post it. I will most likely post a photo on Instagram (find me: krisyee) and also post the outfit details here on my blog. I’m not quite sure what made me decide to do this, but I want to see if I could do it.

SO, HERE WE GO.

iLOVEshoes: Jan-April 2012

Posted in fashion, shoes by krisyee on May 23, 2012

So the last time I posted an iLOVEshoes post was back in October and since then I’ve come across a few new pairs. Okay, so not just a few but a good amount. But in my defense, I must say that a couple pairs of these shoes were for work and like I’ve said before, I hate buying work shoes.

I started the year off by swooping up the Jordan Space Jams Concords. HA! Didn’t think I was into sneakers huh? Well I started out as a light weight sneaker head and headed into heels the past few years. I had a pair of Space Jams Concords in high school which I still have but are pretty damn dirty. So my friend helped me grab a pair when he ordered his. And of course…I haven’t worn them. I just need the red and black 11’s (bka Breds or Playoffs) to help me finish my collection of 11’s.

One day I headed to the Nordstrom Rack in Palo Alto with Abi and Gail to search for some Sperry Top-sider’s that Abi was looking for. Instead I ended up with a pair of Dolce Vita’s that I can not stop wearing. Like seriously. They’re my default shoes anytime I go out now. Whether it’s a bar, lounge, or club I’m wearing them. Although I did wear them the last time I worked bottle service and my feet hurt like a bitch the next morning. But all the other times I’ve worn them, no problem.

Before I headed to Coachella, I was looking for a pair of cheap boots to wear. The forecasts were saying it was going to rain at least the first day of Coachella so I wanted shoes I didn’t mind messing up but would still keep my feet dry (for the most part). On my hunt for these boots, I ended up at Nordstrom Rack again, but this time in Daly City. They were going through a remodel and it seemed to me that they had a better selection of shoes. And this is wear I found these two pairs…

I came across the Sperry Top-sider’s that Abi was looking for when I bought my DV’s. And seeing them in person instead of a picture made me realize why Abi liked them so much. I’m not one for animal print, but like Abi said before, it’s the patent leather that makes them so dope. Having a pair of regular blue Sperry’s, I knew these were going to be comfortable. And as a good friend does, I asked Abi if it was okay with her if I bought them. Haha She said yes, but because I’m awesome…I asked the cashier if she could help me find Abi’s size. Luckily they had them at the store downtown so I picked her up a pair on my way home.

Don’t mind the bad pictures. They’re slightly dirty because I ended up wearing them to Coachella.

So back to Nordstrom Rack Daly city…I found these bad boys.

Sam Edelman for the win! And seriously…who cares if they are “last season” shoes. I still think they’re hot.

Okay so shortly after buying these, I ended up going to two malls in the area to look for my damn boots. Luckily I found these cheap light brown/tan colored combat boots at Cathy Jean. They didn’t have my regular size but I tried on the next size up and they happened to fit perfectly. I got these for less than $30.

And I ended up wearing them the first two days of Coachella.

I stopped by the Cathy Jean in the other mall I went to to compare their boot selection but instead I found these flats that were on sale. I bought both pairs for less than $40. Strictly for work. Since I stand all day at work I usually end up wearing flats. And imagine wearing the same flats over and over. For one, the soles on flats aren’t the best and can get worn out very fast. And two, lets be honest…even if you wear those little “not socks” socks, your feet still sweat and your shoes may start smelling. I’m just saying. So to avoid the funk, I now have at least four pairs of black plain flats that I can rotate between.

Lastly, to add to my collection I got the Jordan 12 Playoffs. I have the 12’s from when they were last released but they’re pretty dirty. I was helping my friend order a pair since he was heading to a family dinner. However I ended up going to dinner with the boyfriend and his friends. So being cray cray, I brought my laptop with me and connected it to the hotspot on my phone. Once it hit 9pm I was online trying to order them. I had my friend’s pair and they boyfriend’s pair in my cart already but the Nike site was having issues. Once we were done with dinner we ended up leaving but I tried again once we got home and I was finally able to checkout and order their pairs. Afterwards I went back in to order myself a pair and because mine are kids sizes, they were easier to get.

I think that’s enough shoes for the first half of the year. We’ll see what the second half brings!

iLOVEshoes: August/September Bargain Buys

Posted in shoes by krisyee on October 4, 2011

So the past two months I kind of went on a shoe binge. I mean…I’m sure I could’ve done a lot worse if I was looking for them on purpose, but five pairs is a lot when you’re not specifically looking for anything. The best part is buying shoes when they’re on sale.

In August I went to Vegas and while searching for a dress, my friend was looking for wedges. On one of our pre-vacation shopping trips, we headed into Charolette Russe. They’re not the best quality, but they’re cheap and are more comfortable than you think. And because they always have buy one get one deals, I ended up buying these. Pretty cute for $20.

While in Vegas my friend Muri and I were walking around the Miracle Mile Mall where she decided we should go into Chinese Laundry. Bad idea. I got these babies for $50. I don’t usually wear strappy heels, but these were too sexy. With a 4.5″ heel and cork platform I couldn’t pass these up. Especially when they’re usually $90, which you can still buy here.

Another day I was at Nordstrom downtown on a mission to buy some new 7 jeans. Instead I ended up in the shoe section where they were having a massive sale. And to be honest, since they were having a sale, I was looking for shoes I could use for work. I hate buying work clothes and shoes, so why not buy them when they’re on sale? So I ended up with two pairs, one pair being for work. Winning!

I got these Steve Madden patent leather flats for work. Usually they’re $60 (I would never spend that much on flats) but I got them for $40. I’ve already worn them a couple times and while they’re pretty comfortable, the stitching on the sides kind of irritate me. Maybe I have wide feet? Haha Anyways, you can still buy these here.

I’m a fan of Trouvé but never really wanted to spend that much on them. So I was excited to find these wedge booties on sale for $60. They’re the first pair of wedge booties I’ve ever bought! And I think they’re my favorite pair considering I can wear them with anything, including jeans and a t-shirt.

Then the other day I was Urban Outfitters. After buying a fedora for only $3 and some change, we realized it was 30% off sale items…so of course I checked the shoes. I couldn’t find anything in my size but then I dug further and started checking all the boxes. At the very bottom of the stack I found these Spicy Orange Kimchi Blue pumps. Cutest ever. Besides being able to wear them to work, these babies were only $15 after the 30% off (sale for $19.99, regularly $50). SCORE.

Now it’s time for me to clean out my closet and shoes.

McFlys.

iLOVEshoes: Dolce Vita for Target

Posted in fashion, shoes by krisyee on May 4, 2011

I was at Target one night probably buying something I really needed like contact solution, but of course ended up buying a bunch of other things that I probably didn’t need. Including these Dolce Vita for Target wedges. The Spring 2011 collection consists of wedges and sandals and while I hardly wear wedges, I couldn’t pass these up for $30. Although, if I had known they had brown ones I probably would’ve gotten those instead. Besides having a pair of closed toed Seychelles wedges that I wear to work, the only other wedges I happen to have are also Dolce Vita. Surprisingly the Target collection is a little more comfortable than my other ones. I can’t wait to wear these when it gets warmer!

Got Me.

Posted in bargain buys, shoes by krisyee on February 21, 2010

I went looking for combat boots for a photoshoot that Abi and I were styling. We weren’t looking for anything fancy or expensive but everywhere I went, they didn’t have them. The day of the shoot I headed over to H&M in Emeryville which of course, didn’t have them. I walked by Steve Madden and I swear I did like three double takes and walked by 3 times, debating on whether or not I should go in. I figured those shoes would be too expensive for the shoot but I walked in and found some boots for $40. DOPE! But of course…the sales clerk tells me there’s a sale going on. Buy one get the second half off. UGH. I was already going to keep the boots for myself after the shoot so why not buy another pair I wanted? I already knew which ones I wanted and luckily those were on sale too! So I got a pair of Oxford shoes and boots for about $70!. After that I headed to Claire’s to get some cheap hoop earrings for the shoot. I was trying to decide which ones to get when the lady tells me if I buy them both I can pick a third pair for free…WTF. FINE. THESE DAMN SALES GET ME EVERY TIME!!

Space Jams

Posted in shoes by krisyee on December 8, 2009

My VI’s are super dirty so I think it’s time to invest in some new ones. Luckily I can fit kids sizes…so they better come in youth sizes! The Space Jams are set to release on 12/23/09. I know some people were saying the 24th, but it looks like they changed it on the Jordan site (Thanks for the info Drew!). Anyone wanna come cop a pair with me? Abi? Lol
