Weekend Getaway: San Diego

Posted in vacay by krisyee on October 14, 2010

This past weekend I headed down to San Diego for some relaxation and chill time. The night we got in we just bar hopped in the Gaslamp district. The next morning I wanted to bring the boyfriend to Hash House A  Go Go because it’s just SO delicious. But we got there late and the line was long so we decided to try the sister restaurant down the street called The Tractor Room. While waiting for our table the boyfriend noticed a guy standing outside with us and decided to ask him what’s good to order. Little did we know it was one of the owners of Hash House and The Tractor Room. We decided to try some of the entrees he suggested, and all I can say is SOOO DELICIOUS.

I decided to try the kiwi watermelon lemonade. It was pretty refreshing.

I had the nutmeg french toast which may sound like your regular french toast, but it was pretty damn good and I couldn’t even finish the whole thing.

The boyfriend tried the sage fried chicken benedict. This was SO good that we almost went back the next day to eat the same thing! Biscuits, spinach, bacon, tomatoes, fried chicken, mozzarella, scramble eggs, and chipotle cream…UGH SO YUUUUUUMMY!!!!!

To show you how big the portions are…

The boyfriend ate the whole thing…including the rest of my portion of it.

*Thanks to Andy for recommending some delicious entrees ,buying my drink, and giving us ideas of places to visit! I hope you and Johnny open a Hash House or Tractor room in SF!

Check out more of my trip…

Special Edition R2-D2

*NERD ALERT*

It’s crazy how much money George Lucas is making on upcoming Android phones. He’s getting paid just for people using the word Droid. It was bound to happen for one of these manufacturers to come out with a Star Wars special edition Android phone. And you may think “Who in the world would buy this phone?”. Well trust me…people are interested. Not me of course, but it’s still pretty cool! Lol And I’m curious to see how much one of these “collectables” will be in a few years.

Verizon’s releasing the special edition R2-D2 Droid 2. It’s more expensive than a regular Droid 2 but it comes with a R2D2 media docking station and also headphones.

You can see more pictures here.

Told you there was a nerd alert.

J-Lo the Anaconda

Posted in random by krisyee on September 28, 2010

It’s not everyday you meet someone with a 11ft pet anaconda named J-Lo. It seemed like the perfect time to show her since tonight’s episode of Glee is on Britney Spears…and who doesn’t think of Britney Spears when they see a huge snake? Along with the real J-Lo in the movie Anaconda.

After 9 years of having her my brother in law is looking to sell her. For more information check out Craigslist.

San Bruno Explosion

Posted in the bay by krisyee on September 10, 2010

Last night a gas line erupted leading to an explosion in a San Bruno neighborhood. It caused a two-alarm fire which quickly changed into a six-alarm fire within 10 minutes. 38 homes destroyed with many other homes damaged. Four people lost their lives which they think can increase since people are still missing. 52 injured.

For those of you that know, this neighborhood is just around the corner from where I grew up. I have friends that live across the street from that neighborhood and I would pass by those streets all the time. Luckily they’re okay, but my parents know someone that had to evacuate and possibly lost her home. Bayhill Shopping Center, a place where my friends and I would hang out at Starbucks almost everyday, is now the post area for The Red Cross and Salvation army.

It’s crazy to know that someone’s life can change dramatically and lose everything they had within an hour or so. In my part I’m going to go through my closet and dressers right now to donate what I can to help out. I’ll most likely be giving blood also. If you’re in the area I encourage you to do the same.

My heart goes out to those who lost their lives, their homes, and those affected by this disaster.

For more information on the fire check out KRON4.
